Foodies in Cayman are tantalising their taste buds again enjoying Cayman Restaurant Month 2019. Throughout October epicureans are savouring dining at some of Cayman's best restaurants at low, fixed price menus.
Organised by the Cayman Islands Tourism Association and sponsored by Good Taste, Hurley's Media and Home Gas, participating restaurants create delicious 2-course and 3-course menus starting at just CI$10 for lunch and CI$25 for dinner.
If you’ve always wanted to try a particular restaurant in Cayman or love to dine out but budget restraints don’t allow too many nights out, Cayman Restaurant Month is a brilliant opportunity to re-visit favourite eateries or to branch out and try something new.
With over 200 restaurants, ranging between beachside grills to world-class diners, Cayman’s epicurean landscape begs to be explored and enjoyed. Participating restaurants create delicious lunches and dinners with wine pairing available at select restaurants.
Grand Old House is one of the participating restaurants. Located on the scenic South Sound, a few minutes’ drive from George Town, award-winning chefs expertly prepare Caribbean-international classics using the freshest local ingredients and whatever the fishermen and local farmers have brought in that day. Diners can enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner, with great wine, followed by a glass of Armagnac and a cigar from their extensive collection.
CIMBOCO is another of the Restaurant of the Month participants. Named after the owners, the Cayman Islands Motor Boat Company was the first locally built, motorised sailing ship in Cayman. CIMBOCO Café is on the West Bay Road, in the heart of George Town. It offers a feast for the senses with an exhibition kitchen and wood burning oven. It is a Caribbean café celebrating the past and the future of the Cayman Islands with modern and traditional combinations of many flavours. Everything is made from scratch, from the breads and soups to homemade desserts – they even make their own ice cream.
Ristorante Pappagallo is doing deals too. It is one of Cayman's best fine dining establishments, renowned for its menu’s variety and culinary flair. From the moment you step onto the wooden bridge leading to Pappagallo's entrance, the senses are heightened. Like many an Italian restaurant, there’s a strong sense of family there. Many of the loyal and experienced staff have served at the restaurant for years where everyone is passionate about quality food. Succulent seafood, regional Italian dishes, fresh pasta and handcrafted desserts feature prominently in their seasonally updated menu. Paired with the award-winning wine list featuring over 400 wines, aficionados from around the world and locals in the know return to Ristorante Pappagallo time after time. Reservations are recommended.
Bargain deals can be had at Catch too. It is another wonderful West Bay waterfront restaurant serving fresh locally caught seafood with a Caribbean twist. Located in tranquil Morgan's Harbour, the restaurant boasts panoramic views of Grand Cayman's stunning North Sound. This breezy waterfront restaurant is popular amongst seafood lovers who enjoy alfresco dining, a casually elegant atmosphere, and attentive service. Never has the saying 'ocean to plate' been truer than at Catch. Local fresh fish is caught daily and prepared by a team of talented international chefs. Fish selection includes yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, trigger fish, lobster (December-February), conch (November-April), red snapper, wahoo, mahi mahi and more.
The Brasserie in Cricket Square, George Town, has great value deals too. It has since its opening in 1997, been the pioneer of the farm-to-table movement in Grand Cayman, producing its own wild raw honey and organic eggs plus catching fresh seafood daily. In fact, the Brasserie owns two fishing boats Brasserie Catch I and II. Surrounded by an edible garden with flourishing fruit and nut trees in Cricket Square, guests enjoy a unique dining experience outside in the greenhouse terrace or indoors in the elegant dining room or intimate wine cellar. The seasonally-inspired and sustainable menu of delicious modern Caribbean cuisine is paired with signature cocktails and an extensive fine wine list. Relax and unwind at The Wicket while savouring a refreshing juice or smoothie.
