Smelly cheese, spiders, and Hollywood hunk Edward Norton. In our first blog post we meet the cast of creatives behind Pink Duck Publishing.

What do you do at Pink Duck Publishing?

Pay the bills and pretend to be important.

What do you like most about your job?

My clients. I love chatting to them about new and exciting advertising opportunities.

What is your favourite thing to do in Cayman?

Cycling the West Bay Loop Bike Route and weekend breaks to Little Cayman.

What is your favourite Cayman beach?

Rum Point.

Must try Cayman food?

I don’t eat any meat or fish so maybe a Cayman lemonade for me. Everyone loves a liquid lunch sometimes, right?

What is your top tip for visitors in Cayman?

Check out the caves on Cayman Brac, not only are they beautiful, but they offer a great workout too.

Random question: if you could eliminate something from existence what would it be?

Spiders!

Everything! Engaging with our social media followers is fun.

What is your favourite thing to do in Cayman?

Sipping a pina colada whilst watching the sunset on Seven Mile Beach.

What is your favourite Cayman beach?

That's a tough one! They are all amazing and charming in their own ways, but I do love spending a day at Cemetery Beach under the shade of the trees.

For meat-eaters, you must try Cayman style beef and everyone should try a rum cake for dessert.

What is your top tip for visitors in Cayman?

Go snorkelling at Eden Rock, George Town. You’ll see lots of beautiful, tropical fish and sometimes tarpon (they are big, but harmless).

Random question: if you could be any superhero, who would you be?

Wonder Woman!

What do you do at Duck Publishing?

I oversee all published content with a specific focus on developing our trio of print publications. In a nutshell, I manage the editorial process, which covers everything from setting the editorial agenda to managing our team of writers, coordinating photography, editing all of our published content, and working with our designer to get our magazines print ready.

What do you like most about your job?

I’m lucky enough that I love what I do, so it never really feels like a “job.” I started my career as a journalist, so writing is still a huge passion of mine, but I also love managing the production process and seeing our magazines come to life. It truly is a team effort, so I love the fact that I get to work alongside a great cast of creatives to make it all happen.

What is your favourite thing to do in Cayman? I’m a real foodie, so exploring Cayman’s best eats is at the top of my list. Luckily, Cayman is the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean, so I’m spoiled for choice.

What is your favourite Cayman beach? I’m not much of a beach girl (I know, I know, I’m living in the wrong place!). Anyone who has met me knows that I have super pasty white skin that turns beetroot red at the mere mention of the sun. That being said, I do love Barker’s Beach, and nothing beats sipping on a Mudslide at Rum Point.

What is your top tip for visitors in Cayman?

Hire a car and explore Cayman’s hidden gems. Some of the island’s best spots are off the beaten track.

Must try Cayman food?

One of my favourite spots for great Cayman-style cuisine is the Heritage Kitchen on Boggy Sand Road, West Bay. Grape Tree Café located on the beachfront Bodden Town is also a must. Their fish-fry is amazing. For a great dining experience, check out Cayman Cabana’s weekly farm-to-table dinners. Fabulous Cayman-inspired cuisine made with fresh locally grown produce. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Random question: what is your favourite cheese?

Stilton, Camembert, and brie. The smellier the better.

What do you do at Pink Duck Publishing?

All things design: social media graphics, client artwork, website, publication templates.

What do you like most about your job?

Creating artwork and meeting clients.

What is your favourite thing to do in Cayman?

Watching the sunset on Seven Mile Beach.

Beaches like Governor’s and Rum Point are among the most popular sites, but if you move away from large resorts, it’s possible to find good secluded spots as well – so keep an eye out.

A blue iguana, in order to move slowly while enjoying nature at the Botanic Park every day.
