World-class music, art, food and more at KAABOO

Revellers are gearing up for two days of fun with the inaugural KAABOO.

The festival, which is descended from the annual festival of the same name held in Del Mar California, U.S., is slated to kick-off on Friday, Feb. 15 from 1 p.m.

KAABOO will feature a wide range of fun-filled indulgences, including world-class music, art exhibitions, comedy, delicious food, and traditional spa experiences, all set against the stunning backdrop of Seven Mile Beach.

Jason Felts, KAABOO’s chief brand officer says that the event will set “a new standard of excellence for live entertainment events.”

“KAABOO is a multi-sensory experience that will ignite and excite all of your senses. KABOO will combine world-class music, inspiring contemporary art, hilarious comedy, incredible cuisine, craft libations, and personal indulgences into a one-of-a-kind experience designed with quality and comfort at the forefront.”

According to Jason, the event’s main draw is its stellar musical lineup, performed across two stages.

Musical acts revellers can look forward to includes the Chainsmokers, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, Flo Rida, Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Maxi Priest. The event will also see Cayman’s local talent take to the stage, including pop-punk band Suckerbox and singer Rico Rolando.

“The world-class music on our two main stages is the most obvious draw, but all of the experiences together are what make KAABOO stand in a class of its own,” Jason says.

KAABOOK will also feature a roster of famed comedians set to perform in a specially erected air-conditioned tent, including Norm Macdonald, Wanda Sykes, and Natasha Leggero.

“Humor Me, our comedy club, will be an indoor respite where guests can get off their feet and get lost in the laughter,” Jason says.

Other elements set to tantalise the senses will include the Palate stage, which will play host to award-winning international chefs alongside Cayman’s local talent, including Maureen Cubbon, Dylan Benoit, and Thomas Tennant. Participating restaurants set to serve up a selection of tasty fare includes Agave, Agua, Grand Old House, Catch, Guy Harvey’s Bar and Grill, The Wharf, Al La Kebab, and Burger Shack.

KAABOO’s artwork programme will feature muralists from across the globe painting murals as large as 30-foot tall, while an art exhibition will feature work by local and international artists. Local artists include John Broad, Isy Obi, Gordon Solomon, Dready, Avril Ward, and 3 Girls and a Kiln.

For those looking to recharge, or perhaps enjoy a moment’s respite, KABOO’s relaxation zones will feature a host of pampering and relaxing treatments, including massages, body treatments, IV infusions, and more.

And, to ensure the party atmosphere keeps going strong throughout the event, the Day + Night Beach Club will feature DJs spinning the tunes until the early hours of the morning.

Local charities are set to benefit from the event, with a dollar from each pass sold being donated to a wide range of charitable organisations, including Feed Our Future, The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, and the Cayman National Cultural Foundation.
